If you want to get yourself some new electronics then you might want to check out the clearance isle at your local retailer. Clearance electronics aren’t all bad. Many of them can actually be great deals. If you are lucky you will find something that will work for many years.

For some reason people think that clearance items are bad. This is not true; many good pieces of equipment can be bought on clearance. They can be returns from disgruntled customers or display pieces. Some are on clearance because they need to be cleared out for income products. Buying older products isn’t a bad thing; depending on what you want you may not need the latest greatest.

Open box items can be returned for lack of a remote or other peripheral. As you can see it may not interfere with performance but some customers are picky. Although this pickiness can lead to many great opportunities for those of us that don’t mind such problems. It can sometimes mean getting a several hundred dollar product for under 100.

Products that are on clearance for damage though are another story. These are often returned for damage during stocking and may or may not function. Cosmetic damage often doesn’t mean anything but if it’s deep the internal electronics might be damaged. But again it just depends on the customer’s willingness to pay for a product that’s not perfect.

As far as refurbished products go these can go either way. Refurbished means it was defective and was sent back to the factory for repairs. These may or may not work so cross your fingers. Most of the time they generally do work but there is always a chance. You can usually spot refurbished products via a giant sticker of some kind. You will know it when you see it.

Many places will sell new products on clearance. In most cases they work fine they are just on clearance because they need to get rid of them. The reasons for his can be varied but for the most part its just there to make room for the newer products. You can find some really good deals when you get these.

Clearance electronics can be a great thing to shop for. Everything from TVs and DVD players can be on sale at any time. You may find that killer sound system or a game console for a very low price with nothing wrong with it what so ever. Just remember if its open box that doesn’t mean it’s bad, it just means someone opened it and didn’t like it.
